Peggy Glanville-Hicks won an international reputation as composer - more especially as an opera composer - and was the first, among the few women in this field to achieve such distinction. Tom Fitzgerald was awarded a Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers' House residential fellowship in 2005. The salons were held while Tom was resident composer, to promote awareness of the House.
